Despite lacking a comprehensive regional architecture, East Asia’s growing web of dialogues and meetings are strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation. As the emerging focal point of global and regional economy and politics, can the East Asian community find a way to accommodate the interests of a diverse group of states, as the EU and ASEAN have attempted? What would be the desirable and feasible regional order? What are the impediments in attaining that? From various trade frictions to pollution and climate change, can it find solutions to transnational issues that no state can overcome alone? What is the future of East Asia’s regional order?
