Kim Joon Hyung

Rep. Kim Joon Hyung is a Member of the 22nd Korean National Assembly, representing the Rebuilding Korea Party, following his election in 2024. He is a member of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee and concurrently serves as President of Korea Diplomacy Plaza, a network of regional experts and professionals in international relations. Previously, he taught international politics as a professor at Handong Global University for 25 years and served as Chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2016, he was a member of Moon Jae-in’s presidential election campaign, where he consulted on and drafted major foreign policy initiatives. After Moon’s election, he joined the presidential transition committee and became a member of the Presidential Commission on Policy Planning. Moreover, he was a member of advisory committees to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Unification, and the National Security Council. His areas of specialization and interest include theories of international relations and Northeast Asian relations, including U.S.-China, U.S.-ROK, and inter-Korean relations. Rep. Kim received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Yonsei University and his master’s and doctoral degrees in Political Science from George Washington University.
