Park Young-sun

Prof. Park Young-sun is the Co-Director of the Sogang Mentoring Center at Sogang University and the former Minister of SMEs and Startups of the Republic of Korea (2019 2021), becoming the first woman to lead the SME-specialized ministry since its creation. She also served as a Presidential Special Envoy to Ecuador and as a Senior Research Fellow at the Ash Center at Harvard Kennedy School. Prior to her cabinet appointment, she served four terms as a Member of the National Assembly (2004-2020), where she gained recognition for her efforts to reform the chaebol and prosecutorial systems. Moreover, she was the first woman to serve as floor leader and Chair of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee. Before beginning her political career, she had a distinguished 22-year career as a national news anchor and journalist at MBC, a major Korean television network. She reported from Moscow before South Korea established diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union, interviewed world leaders on her own program, and hosted the first live MBC television news broadcast from Pyongyang, North Korea. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Baek Bong Shin Sa Award (2008, 2010, 2011) and the Best National Assembly Member Award for the National Audit. Prof. Park is one of the most sought-after politicians in Korea.
