Rowan Callick is the Asia-Pacific editor of The Australian, Australia's leading national newspaper. Mr. Callick was also the newspaper's Beijing Correspondent from 2006-2009. Previously, he was the China Correspondent and Asia Pacific Editor at the Australian Financial Review as well as senior writer for Time Magazine. Before moving to Australia in 1987, Mr. Callick also spent a decade in Papua New Guinea as the general manager of a global publishing group. He is a recipient of two Walkley Awards, Australia's highest journalism honor, and also won the Graham Perkin Award for Australian Journalist of the Year in 1995. Mr. Callick is the author of The Party Forever: Inside China’s Modern Communist Elite (2013), Channar: A Landmark Venture in Iron Ore (2012), and Comrades & Capitalists: Hong Kong Since the Handover (1998). He received a B.A. with Honours from Exeter University.

Rowan Callick is the Asia Pacific editor of the Australian Financial Review, Australia’s main business and economic newspaper. Previously, he was the Financial Review’s deputy editor in charge of national and international news, the Japan and Korea correspondent in 2004-06, and the Southeast Asia correspondent from 1994-99. Mr. Earl has more than 20 years experience working as a business/political reporter and editor in Australia, Asia and North America. In 2009-12 he was a member of the Australia-Japan Foundation board and is now a member of the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies advisory board. He received his B.A. in journalism from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology as well as degrees in economics from the Australian National University and history from the University of the Philippines.
