Hamid Alawadhi is the Dean of the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Yemen and also a Professor of Arabic and French Studies at Sanaa University. Previously, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Sanaa University (2008-2010), Ambassador of Yemen to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) (2003-2008), Head of the Ideology, Culture, and Information Department in the ruling General People’s Congress Party (2001-2003), and Secretary General of the National Human Rights Commission (1998). Dr. Alawadhi is the author of numerous books and articles on human rights, Arab thought and literature, and is the Editor-in-Chief of the Yemen Encyclopedia. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Arabic literature from the University of Tunis, Tunisia, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in translation studies from Sorbonne University in Paris, France.
