The Asan Institute for Policy Studies hosted the 9th Asan Institute Roundtable on “Women and the Multicultural Family in Korea” on July 23, 2010.

The Roundtable featured Kim Sungmikyung (President, Incheon Women’s Hotline), Lee Byunghwa (Researcher, Yonsei University Department of Political Science), and Cho Hyunok (Professor, Ewha Woman’s University Graduate School of Policy Science) as panelists. Although immigrant women account for 80% of intercultural marriages in Korea, discussions on the immigrant women’s social impact and policy responses by the Korean government have been insufficient. The participants and panelists explored the reasons why discussions on the topic have been insufficient.
